Project Management QuickStart:
A Facilitated Planning Session for High Priority Projects

bulletNo time for formal project management (PM) training?
bulletWould your team benefit by learning more about project planning and systematic PM processes?
bulletGot a big project looming and want to make sure you build a solid, effective plan?

Then you should consider having us conduct one of our custom-tailored Project Management QuickStart sessions. Here are the steps you need to take:

  1. Identify a high-priority project that your team must plan.
  2. Pull together any rough project notes, including information related to deliverables, schedule, resources, and so on.
  3. Identify your key project stakeholders -- sponsors, users, customers, creators, technical experts, and others.
  4. Contact Michael Greer and discuss your requirements. He will put together an outline for a custom-tailored session (one to three days in duration) designed to achieve these objectives:
bulletIntroduce your project team members to a set of powerful PM planning tools.
bulletBuild consensus among project team members regarding the exact deliverables which your project will produce and the work processes to be used to produce them.
bulletFacilitate a series of activities in which your team creates their own custom-built project plan including:
bulletClear and concise project scope statement
    bulletWork breakdown structure (WBS)
bulletList of project activities and tasks, expressed as a network diagram
    bulletList of required resources
    bulletProject schedule
    bulletProject cost estimate
    bulletProject communications plan
bulletProject staffing plan, including roles & responsibility matrix
bulletProject tracking mechanisms (to track project deliverables, deal with open issues, provide regular status reports, and achieve sign-off of deliverables at key points during their evolution)
bulletIntegrate basic PM terms and concepts into the process of creating this plan.

This approach is designed to provide your team with just enough PM theory to get the job done. Everyone will receive a copy of Greer's practical, step-by-step toolbook The Project Manager's Partner as well as some all-new, unpublished project tracking tools. In addition, Greer's two decades of experience in facilitating project teams and in designing/conducting training sessions will be put to work to help you weld your group of project players into a solid and effective project team.
